5 Interior Design Elements to Add Soul to Your Home
1.FORM
Playing with form can add visual depth and interest in any space. A simple way to implement this design element is by adding in unique accessories to a coffee table, credenza, or bookcase in your home. We like to use this element in all our designs by including thoughtful furnishings that work to enhance the visual impact of the space.

2.COLOR
Color is widely understood as being one of the most important elements of interior design. This element can impact the vibe of a room, as colors can evoke different emotions and sensations from people. Adding new colors to a space through furniture or paint can be an easy way to change up the mood and add soul to a lackluster space.

3.LINE
Designers use line of sight as a tool when planning interior and exterior spaces. We can alter the way people will notice and interact with the exterior. The element of line can be used to visually emphasize a garden or a patio. We can use line to influence how people will experience a room as they walk through it. Line can be utilized through physical means, such as the pattern in floor tile or wallpaper. Or it can be implied lines that are formed through structural elements (walls, columns, etc.) or furniture placement.

4.TEXTURE
This is a design element that highlights the human aspect of design. Texture is observed both visually and physically and can be implemented through the use of varied materials. We like to incorporate materials that feel just as beautiful as they look. The use of textured fabrics such as velvet, boucle, leather, wool, or silk can create a different feel to a room. Make sure to consider the level of traffic and the purpose of the furnishing/finish when selecting an appropriate fabric/material.

5.HARMONY
Harmony is the natural result of applying all the other design elements while you are seeing through a design project. When selecting pieces for your home, consider whether they work together to create unity. Design should be harmonious and unified, but not homogenous. Too much of the same won’t create soulful spaces. You should always look for pieces that speak to you to add your personal touch to a space. Harmonious design is achieved in creating spaces that people want to spend time in, and will always return to.
