MIXED ERAS
The emergence of incorporating pieces from the past into modern interiors has been a growing trend and will continue to grow in the New Year. Whether it’s a mid-century chair, vintage rug, or an antique lamp, mixing in vintage pieces adds character to a space and creates thoughtful design. Sourcing items from vintage stores and second-hand marketplaces or giving family heirlooms new life can create a unique and sentimental touch within any space. Finding the right balance between old and new is an essential part of mixing eras while making sure the space doesn’t look outdated.
POPS OF COLOR
Neutrals are always in but the rise in colorful interiors are gaining popularity and for good reason. Pops of color and bright color palettes add vibrancy and life to a room. Over the years we have begun to see a shift from cooler neutrals to a warmer side of the scale, and now the colorful palette is following suit. Bold warm and earthy red, oranges, yellows, and gem tone hues are popping up all over new designs. Benjamin Moore’s 2023 fiery red-orange colour of the year, Raspberry Blush, is a prime example of the types of bold warm colours we will see being painted across walls or added as pop of colour in a pillow in the coming interiors.

Stone never goes out of style, so it is no surprise to learn that stone countertops, backsplashes, and accent walls with continue to flourish in the New Year. The trend on the rise is bold, veiny, eye-catching stones. These stones rich in color and vein add a striking focal point in any room but especially when used in a kitchen to create a seamless flow between counter and backsplash.
