All of us here at The Dickson Design Group are raising young families in older urban homes. In other words, we get it — and understand firsthand that smart storage and versatile spaces that do double (or triple) duty are every bit as important as great design.
We work closely together, and always with your best interests in mind. Here’s a bit more about each of us:
Kate Dickson, Principal Designer
Interior design has been in Kate’s blood forever — but it didn’t become her career until after she had spent a decade working in marketing and project management for several high-profile corporations.
After the birth of her first child in 2008, Kate left the corporate world to pursue her passion full-time. While raising two young children, she obtained her Interior Decorating Certificate from George Brown College — and the rest, as they say, is history.
Kate has been helping Toronto families turn their houses into homes for the better part of a decade, and has built a thriving practice and a diverse portfolio of work.
Kate’s unique combination of design, marketing and project management experience means that she’s just as effective managing complex projects as she is designing beautiful spaces.
When not studying blueprints, poring over paint chips or sourcing furniture, you’re most likely to find Kate hanging out with her family (she has two school-aged children and a fur baby!), skiing during the winter months, or cooking (with a good glass of wine in hand)!
Kate is a member of the Decorators and Designers Association of Canada (DDA) and also has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Guelph.
Kristi Bullock, Senior Designer
With over 18 years of design experience across many sectors of the industry including residential, workplace, retail and hospitality, Kristi envisions every project from a unique perspective.
Her key creative strengths lie in design conceptualization, material development and space planning. She creates designs that best suit the client and the project, with the right solution in mind – as opposed to the trendy solution – so they stand the test of time.
Kristi has her Bachelor of Interior Design and experience at several of Toronto’s leading design and architectural firms. She has been a member of award-winning design teams and created the initial design concept for (the formerly known) ING Direct's first Canadian Info Spots.
Kristi's working philosophy is rooted in strong client communication and in the belief that team work and collaboration yields the best results.
When not designing spaces for clients, you’re likely to find Kristi spending time with her 11-year-old daughter (and two-year-old pup!), hitting the local courts and trails, walking the sandy shores of Georgian Bay or sipping wine and scoping out antiques in the Niagara region.
Laura Witkowski, Operations Manager
Laura keeps things organized and on-track behind the scenes at The Dickson Design Group. She handles orders, logistics, and billing in addition to (many!) other details and day-to-day responsibilities.
Her background is in corporate events and meeting planning, however, since joining KDD, she has developed a keen interest in her newfound line of work, to the point where she can’t pass a decorating magazine or beautiful tile sample without taking a closer look.
When not coordinating with suppliers and driving around town picking up samples and orders, Laura loves to spend time with her family (she has two school-aged boys), read, and run. She’s a huge hockey and baseball mom, so you’re likely to find her cheering on her boys at the rink or ball park, depending on the season.
